Reflecting on Divine Love
The author invites the soul to contemplate God's immense love through creation, redemption, and constant providential care.
Furthermore, to more easily guide your will to desire God's will and His honor in all things, remember often that He has honored and shown you love in many ways before. In creation, by making you from nothing in His likeness and putting all other creatures at your service (cf. Gen 1:26-28). (See Genesis 1:26-28.) Isn't it a sign of the immeasurable esteem and love that the immense God has for you that every hour—indeed, every moment—He protects you from enemies, fights for you with His grace, and continually prepares His beloved Son for your defense and nourishment in the Sacrament of the altar? No one can fully grasp how much consideration such a great Lord has for us poor souls, for our lowliness and misery, or, conversely, what we are obliged to do for such a high Majesty who has done so much for us. If earthly lords feel obliged to honor even the poor and humble when they are shown honor, what should our wretchedness do before the supreme King of the universe, by whom we are so highly esteemed and loved?
The Majesty of God's Will
Beyond gratitude, we must honor God simply because His divine nature and sovereign will deserve our total obedience.
Beyond what I've said, always keep in mind that the divine Majesty deserves infinite honor and service simply because that is its desire.

Inoltre per indurre con maggior facilità la tua volontà a volere in tutte le cose il beneplacito di Dio e il suo onore, ricordati spesso che egli ti ha prima in vari modi onorata e amata. Nella creazione, creandoti dal nulla a sua somiglianza e mettendo tutte le altre creature a tuo servizio (cfr. Gen 1,26-28). Nella redenzione, mandando non un angelo ma il suo unigenito Figliuolo a redimerti, non con prezzo corruttibile di oro e di argento ma con il suo sangue prezioso (cfr. Pt 1, 18-19) e con la sua penosa e ignominiosa morte. Che poi ogni ora, anzi ogni momento ti guardi dai nemici, combatta per te con la sua grazia, tenga continuamente preparato per tua difesa e per tuo cibo il suo diletto Figliuolo nel sacramento dell'altare non è segno di incalcolabile stima e amore che l'immenso Dio ti porta? Sicché nessuno può capire quanta considerazione così gran Signore abbia di noi poverelli, della nostra bassezza e miseria, e viceversa quello che noi siamo tenuti a fare per così alta Maestà, che tali e tante cose ha operate per noi. Se i signori della terra, quando sono onorati da persone anche povere e umili, si sentono obbligati a rendere loro onore, cosa dovrà fare la nostra viltà con il supremo re dell'universo da cui si vede così altamente apprezzata e amata?
Oltre a quanto ho detto, abbi sempre sopra ogni cosa viva memoria che la divina Maestà per se stessa merita infinitamente di essere onorata e servita, semplicemente perché tale è il suo desiderio.
