Chapter 20Revel.8.20

The Five Unfit Counselors

The Mother of God warns the king against seeking counsel from five types of spiritually infirm servants.

The Mother of God says to the bride, "Tell the king you're praying for that he has five servants, and the first one is blind." Still, there is some material from which a beautiful image can be made. Therefore, you shouldn't seek advice from a blind person until they have clear sight. The second type is deaf, because no divine love enters their ears; so, don't discuss spiritual matters with them unless they've gained a better capacity to hear. The third servant is mute, because divine love is not in his soul; and so, everything he says is either out of fear of punishment, or for the sake of worldly gain, or to please others. The fourth servant is paralyzed in every limb, so he's incapable of any spiritual work. The fifth servant is spiritually leprous through and through, and for that reason, you should avoid his presence, so that others aren't infected by him.

The Path of Wise Obedience

The Lord provides healthy counselors to replace the unfit ones and calls the king to faithful obedience.

Instead of the five servants we warned him against, we're giving him five others who are spiritually clear-sighted, attentive, and free from any spiritual stain; if he obeys them, he'll keep the friendship of my Son. Also, tell him to stand obediently in his crown; otherwise, my Son will call him to stand beneath it. For I will explain this word to you in its own time.
