Chapter 62Revel.6.62

The Angel's Announcement

The Virgin Mary receives a divine message from an angel regarding her impending departure from this world.

The Mother says: "One day, some years after my Son's ascension, I was feeling deeply anxious from a longing to reach that same Son of mine, when I saw a shining angel, just as I had seen before, who said to me:" 'Your Son, who is God and our Lord, has sent me to announce to you that the time has come for you to come to him in the body, to receive the crown prepared for you.' I answered him, 'Do you know the day and the hour when I am to depart from this world?' The angel replied, "The friends of your Son will come, and they will bury your body." After saying this, the angel disappeared, and I prepared for my departure by visiting, as was my custom, all the places where my Son had suffered.

The Mystery of the Assumption

Mary describes the moment of her soul's departure, the burial of her body, and its subsequent glorification in heaven.

And one day, when my spirit was caught up in wonder at divine love, my soul was so filled with such exultation in that very contemplation that it could barely contain itself, and in that same reflection, my soul was released from my body. But the things my soul saw then, and how magnificent they were, and with what honor the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit honored it, and the vast multitude of angels by whom it was raised up—you couldn't grasp these things, nor do I wish to tell you of them until your soul and body are separated, although I have shown you some of these things in that daily prayer which my Son inspired in you. Those who were with me in the house when I gave up my spirit knew well, from the unusual light, what divine things were happening with me then. After this, however, the friends of my Son, sent by God, buried my body in the Valley of Jehoshaphat. Countless angels were with them, like specks of dust in a sunbeam; the evil spirits, however, didn't dare to approach. My body lay buried in the earth for fifteen days. Then, accompanied by a multitude of angels, it was taken up into heaven. This timing isn't without a profound mystery, because in the seventh hour the resurrection of bodies will occur, and in the eighth, the happiness of both soul and body will be made complete.

The Ages of Salvation

A prophetic overview of the eight ages of salvation history, culminating in the eternal joy of the resurrection.

The first age, you see, lasted from the beginning of the world until the Law was given through Moses; the second lasted from Moses until the incarnation of my Son. The third was when my Son instituted baptism and softened the severity of the Law; the fourth, when He preached in word and confirmed it by His example; the fifth, when my Son chose to suffer and die, and when He rose from the dead and proved His resurrection with certain proofs. the sixth, when He ascended into heaven and sent the Holy Spirit; the seventh, when He will come for judgment and everyone will rise with their bodies for judgment; the eighth, when everything that has been promised and prophesied will be fulfilled. And then there will be perfect happiness; then God will be seen in His glory, and the saints will shine like the sun, and there will be no more pain."

Quo dicto disparuit angelus et ego paraui me ad exitum circuiens omnia loca more meo, in quibus filius meus passus fuerat.

Quindecim vero diebus corpus meum iacuit sepultum in terra.

Prima quippe hora fuit ab origine mundi vsque ad tempus illud, quod per Moysen dabatur lex; secunda a Moyse vsque ad incarnacionem filii mei;

tercia, quando filius meus baptismum instituit et austeritatem legis mitigauit; quarta, quando ipse predicabat verbo et exemplo confirmabat; quinta, quando filius meus pati voluit et mori et quando surrexit a morte et resurreccionem suam certis argumentis approbabat;

sexta, quando ascendit in celum et misit Spiritum Sanctum; septima, quando veniet ad iudicium et omnes cum corporibus suis surgent ad iudicium; octaua, quando complebuntur omnia, que promissa et prophetata sunt;
