A Comprehensive Confession

The believer brings their entire life, including specific faults and internal dispositions, before the Trinity to seek divine mercy and forgiveness.

I confess to you, the Lord my God and Creator, the one God in the Holy Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—glorified and worshiped, all the sins I have committed throughout my life, at every hour, at the present time, and in days and nights past: by deed, word, and thought; through overeating, drunkenness, eating in secret, idle talk, despondency, laziness, arguing, disobedience, slander, condemnation, negligence, self-love, greed for possessions, theft, lying, dishonest gain, taking bribes, rivalry, envy, anger, harboring resentment, hatred, and extortion; and through all my senses—sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch—and through all my other sins, both of soul and body, by which I have angered you, my God and Creator, and wronged my neighbor. Grieving over these things, I acknowledge my guilt before you, my God, and I desire to repent. Only help me, Lord my God; I humbly implore you with tears. In your mercy forgive my past sins, and absolve me from all those I have confessed before you, for you are good and love humanity.
