What Thy Kingdom Means
This pericope explains the multifaceted meaning of 'Thy kingdom come,' encompassing God's reign in our hearts, our longing for heavenly inheritance, and the anticipation of Christ's second coming.
Question 15. What is contained in this second petition? Answer. We ask God that he himself, by his grace, righteousness, and goodness, may reign in our whole being, and especially in our heart, not in sin, as it is said: "Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions" (Rom. 6:12). Secondly, this petition contains that a person, having received God's grace and felt heavenly joy, esteems the world as nothing and desires solely to inherit the Kingdom of God, as the Apostle said: "having a desire to depart and be with Christ" (Phil. 1:23). Thirdly, we ask God for the sooner arrival of His second coming, when the Son of Man will appear in His glory, and the resurrection of the dead and the final judgment will occur; after which the kingdom of this world and the enemy of our souls will be abolished, and the Kingdom of Heaven will come, "that God may be all in all," as the Apostle says (1 Cor. 15:28).

Вопрос 15. Что содержится в сем втором прошении?
Ответ. Просим Бога, чтобы Он Сам, Своею благодатию, правдою и благостию, царствовал во всем существе нашем, и преимущественно в сердце, а не грехе, как сказано: «Да не царствует убо грех в мертвеннем вашем теле, во еже послушати его в похотех его» (Рим. 6, 12). Во-вторых, прошение сие содержит то, что человек, получивший благодать Божию, и ощутивший небесную радость, ни во что вменяет мир, и желает единственно наследовать Царствие Божие, как говорил Апостол: «желание имый разрешитися и со Христом быти» (Флп. 1, 23). В-третьих, просим Бога, чтобы скорее наступило второе Его пришествие, в которое Сын человеческий явится во славе Своей, и настало воскресение мертвых и последний суд; после чего царство мира сего и враг душ наших упразднятся, и приидет Царство Небесное, «да будет Бог всяческая во всех», как говорит Апостол (1Кор. 15, 28).
