The Sixth Beatitude
This section introduces and quotes the sixth beatitude: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."
Question 55. What is the sixth beatitude? Answer. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Matt. 5:8).
The Meaning of Purity
This beatitude teaches about chastity and the necessity of being pure in body, soul, and thought to see God, as impure thoughts defile the soul.
Question 56. What does this beatitude teach? Answer. In this blessedness, chastity is praised. Therefore, whoever desires to see God must be pure in body, soul, and all thoughts. For impure thoughts defile the image of God and expel divine grace from the soul.

Ответ. «Блажени чистии сердцем: яко тии Бога узрят» (Мф. 5, 8).
Вопрос 56. Чему учит сие блаженство?
Ответ. В блаженстве сем похваляется целомудрие. Посему, кто желает видеть Бога, тот должен быть чист как телом, так и душою и всеми мыслями. Ибо нечистые помыслы оскверняют образ Божий и изгоняют из души Божественную благодать.
