LI. De poenis latrociniL
LI. De poenis latrociniL
But I also saw a well that was so deep I couldn't discern its bottom; from it, flames were emerging, rising high, and then falling back into the same well, doing this without any pause. And in this pit, the souls of those were punished who, because of greed, committed robbery while living in the world, so that with the same flame, they were cast up from that pit, and with it were drawn back down into the same pit. And they were crying out in lament: "Alas, we have sinned!" For they had committed robbery, and they were in that pit; and because they had held onto the same vice with bitterness, they were burning in that flame; and since they had committed many robberies, the same flame was casting them up and down; and because they regarded this as nothing, they were lamenting in the same punishments. 2iO S.

2iO S.
