XLIII. De injustitiae poenis purgatoriis.
XLIII. De injustitiae poenis purgatoriis.
And I saw a dreadful place, full of fiery thorns and thistles and the worst worms, through which all the wicked spirits tormented the souls of those who, while they were in the world in their bodies, had persisted in injustice in every way. Because they had held onto injustice in their actions and words everywhere, they were punished with thorns and briars; and because they had preserved bitterness in their hearts, they were tormented by the same worms; and since they had shown mercy to no one through their injustice, they were afflicted by fiery whips from wicked spirits. And I saw and understood these things. XLIII. On the Penances of Injustice. And again, from the living light I heard a voice saying to me: "What you see is true, and as you see it, so it is." Therefore, those who wish to overcome these worst evils and escape the penalties of this vice should cast off all injustice from themselves, endure fasting and scourging, and also devote themselves attentively to the purest prayers, doing this according to what is shown to them by the ruler of their souls.

XLIIIL De irijustis facienda poenitentia.
