Chapter 11LiVM.2.11

XIII. Verba immoderationis.

XIII. Verba immoderationis.

And he said, "Whatever I can desire and seek, I will pursue, and I will abstain from nothing." And why should I refrain from what I want, when I have no consequence from it? How could I let go of what I am, when each thing moves according to its own nature? If I were to live like this, barely able to breathe, what kind of life would that be? Whatever games and whatever laughter come my way, I will do this. When my heart rejoices, why should I be troubled? And when my veins are full of joy, why should I cut them? And when I know how to speak, why should I be silent? For the salvation of every creature is in the body, and as I was created, so I act. And why should I change into something other than what I am? Each creature grows according to its own nature, and it acts according to what is fitting for itself; so I will do too.
