A kevélység ellen
Prayer for Humility Against Pride
A prayer asking Christ and God the Father to remove pride and grant humility, concluding with a doxology and amen.
Lord Jesus Christ, true mirror of humility, who willed that we take our example of humility from you, and that dust and ashes should learn humility from your many shameful torments—I who have no cause for pride in body or in soul: drive far from me the puffed-up pride that you hate.✦1 Almighty and true God, who so terribly cast down the pride of the angels, yet chose your humble handmaid to be your mother: take away the swelling of my heart, and grant that I may boast in nothing, but only in you; that I despise no one, claim nothing as my own, but, recognizing that whatever good is in me comes from you, the boundless wellspring of every good, I may desire from it all glory not for myself, but for your holy name. Who live with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Amen.
Scripture echoes
- ↩Gen.18.27 — Then Abraham answered and said, "Behold, I have now ventured to speak to the Lord, though I am but dust and ashes."
Notes
- 1 ↩"por és hamu" (dust and ashes) is the traditional self-designation of the frail human speaker before God; "kinek..." continues that self-reference.
