The Fatherhood of the Almighty Creator

What do you believe when you say, 'I believe in God, the Father, the Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth'? I believe that the eternal Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is my God and my Father because of His Son. He created heaven and earth and everything in them out of nothing, and He still sustains and governs them through His eternal counsel and providence. I trust in Him and don't doubt that He provides me with everything I need for body and soul, and that He also turns to my good all the burdens He places on me in this life. He can do this as an almighty God and will also do it as a faithful Father.

Was glaubst du, wenn du sprichst: »Ich glaube an Gott, den Vater, den Allmächtigen, den Schöpfer Himmels und der Erde«? Ich glaube, dass der ewige Vater unsers Herrn Jesus Christus um seines Sohnes willen mein Gott und mein Vater ist. Er hat Himmel und Erde mit allem, was darin ist, aus nichts erschaffen und erhält und regiert sie noch immer durch seinen ewigen Rat und seine Vorsehung. Auf ihn vertraue ich und zweifle nicht, dass er mich mit allem versorgt, was ich für Leib und Seele nötig habe, und auch alle Lasten, die er mir in diesem Leben auferlegt, mir zum Besten wendet. Er kann es tun als ein allmächtiger Gott und will es auch tun als ein getreuer Vater.
