The Name of Our Savior
The name Jesus signifies that He alone is the one who saves us from our sins.
Why is the Son of God called Jesus, which means Savior? Because He heals us from our sins, and because there is no other place to seek or find such salvation.
Faith in the Perfect Savior
True faith rejects all other sources of salvation, trusting that Jesus is a perfect and sufficient Savior.
Do those who believe in the only Savior, Jesus, look for salvation and blessedness from the saints, from themselves, or from anywhere else? No. They might boast about Him with their words, but they deny Him by their actions. After all, either Jesus isn't a perfect Savior, or He is everything necessary for the salvation of those who accept Him with true faith.

Warum wird der Sohn Gottes Jesus, dass heißt»Heiland«, genannt? Weil er uns heilt von unseren Sünden, und weil bei keinem anderen ein solches Heil zu suchen noch zu finden ist.
Glauben denn auch die an den einzigen Heiland Jesus, die Heil und Seligkeit bei den Heiligen, bei sich selbst oder anderswo suchen? Nein. Sie rühmen sich zwar seiner mit Worten, verleugnen ihn aber mit der Tat. Denn entweder ist Jesus kein vollkommener Heiland, oder er ist denen, die ihn mit wahrem Glauben annehmen, alles, was zu ihrer Seligkeit nötig ist.
