Morning Supplications
A series of morning prayers seeking divine guidance, strength, and the ascent of the soul toward God.
O Lord, hold me up in your paths so that my footsteps won't slip. Amen. Come to my aid, Lord Jesus, and gird your sword upon your powerful thigh. O Most Powerful One, come forth: slay me within myself, so that I may live in you, and my enemies may stop pursuing me. Amen. O God, you are my God; I will seek you early. My soul thirsts for you; my flesh longs for you in a dry and barren land where there is no water. Satisfy this thirst with your freshest waters of comfort, in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. O Lord, have mercy on me; I have waited for you. Be my strength in the morning and my help in times of trouble, so that I may exalt your Name, which dwells on high, and live in the stability of your times, and that your fear may be my treasure, for the sake of Jesus Christ. Amen. Almighty God and merciful Father, I ask you to grant that, just as I believe your only Son, our Lord, has ascended into heaven, so I and all your faithful servants may ascend there in heart and mind, and dwell with you continually. Amen. O God, King of glory, who has exalted your only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph into your Kingdom in heaven, I ask you not to leave your Church or my poor self comfortless; but send us your Holy Spirit to comfort us and lift us up to the same place where our Savior Christ has gone before, who lives and reigns with you, one God, world without end. Amen.
Refuge in Times of Trouble
Prayers for comfort and protection against adversaries, deceit, and the burdens of life.
Hear my prayer, O God, and don't hide yourself from my petition. Pay attention to me and hear me, as I mourn in my prayer and feel troubled. Give me strength and comfort in you, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. O God, the proud have risen against me, and the congregation of troublemakers has sought after my soul, and they haven't set you before their eyes. But you, Lord God, are full of compassion and mercy, slow to anger, and abundant in goodness and truth. O turn to me, and have mercy on me; show me some sign of goodness, so that those who hate me may see it and be ashamed, because you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Lord, please help me with these and all my other prayers and petitions. Guide my path toward everlasting salvation, so that amid all the changes and uncertainties of this mortal life, I may always be defended by your most gracious and ready assistance, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. O Lord, deliver me from those whose words are softer than butter while they harbor war in their hearts, and from those whose words are smoother than oil, even though they are like swords. Lord, I cast my burden upon you, so that you may sustain me and not allow me to fall forever. Amen. Bless me, O Lord, when you discipline me, and teach me your law, so that you may give me patience in times of adversity until the pit is dug for the ungodly. O Lord, don't fail me or forsake me, for I am part of your inheritance in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Almighty and merciful God, in your generous goodness, keep me safe from everything that might harm me, so that, prepared in both body and soul, I may with a free heart accomplish what you would have me do, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. O Eternal God, as long as I am here on earth, I humbly pray that as earthly things serve me, they may teach me to be their Lord, but appointed by You: As long as they are burdensome, may they teach me to serve there with my Lord, to whom when I do not obey, they tend to become a just punishment: That whether they serve me or not, I will always serve You, in and through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Do not stay silent, O God of my praise, for the mouths of the wicked and the deceitful have opened against me. They have spoken lies about me with false tongues, surrounded me with words of hatred, and fought against me for no reason. But I give myself to prayer; Lord, forgive them, and hear me. Amen.
Seeking Peace and Divine Wisdom
Petitions for internal peace, divine teaching, and refuge under God's wings.
O God, the author of peace and lover of harmony, in knowing whom stands our eternal life, and whose service is perfect freedom: defend me and all your servants from every assault of our enemies, so that we, trusting in your defense, may not fear the power of any adversaries, through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Speak, Lord Jesus, and teach me so that I may learn from You. Amen. Deliver me, O Lord, from the evil man, and protect me from the cruel man who plots mischief in his heart and stirs up strife all day long. The proud have set a snare for me and spread their net wide with cords, laying traps in my path. Lord, keep me from treacherous hands, and preserve me, so that even if they conspire, they won't be able to overthrow my steps, for the sake of Jesus Christ. Amen. O God, from whom all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works come: Grant me and all your servants that peace which the world cannot give, so that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments, and that, being defended by you from the fear of our enemies, we may spend our time in rest and quietness, through the merits of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen. Have mercy on me, O God; have mercy on me, for my soul trusts in you, and in the shadow of your wings I will trust until these and all my other afflictions are over. O send out your mercy and truth upon me, even for the sake of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Humility and Evening Rest
A concluding set of prayers seeking humility, purity, and protection during the night.
O Lord, merciful one, who does not approach a proud heart, humble my soul. O you, who do not see except through pure hearts, grant me the true purity of heart. I thirst, O Lord; grant me a pledge of the future inheritance; at least give me a drop of the heavenly rain to refresh my thirst, because I burn with love. And I don't ask this, Lord, because of my merits, for I am most unworthy to taste it; but I ask for the sake of your mercy and the merits of our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen. Almighty God, I humbly ask you to guide, sanctify, and govern both my heart and body according to your laws and in the works of your commandments, so that through your mighty protection, I may be preserved day and night, in body and soul, through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen. O Lord, I cry out to you; listen to me, O God. You keep my eyes awake; I'm so weak that I can't speak. In the night, my soul refuses comfort; yet even then, give me grace, especially so that I may commune with my own heart, search out my spirit, and compose myself in you, that I may rise to serve you. Amen. Lord, grant me a restful sleep for my body and soul. Keep me safe from the dark sleep of sin, and from all shadowy, nocturnal temptations. Extinguish the fiery darts of the wicked one aimed at me. Repress the rebellions of my flesh. And quiet every earthly and worldly thought within me, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. I humbly ask you, Father, to kindly look upon my weaknesses; and for the glory of your name, turn away from me and the rest of your servants all the evils we justly deserve. Grant that in all our troubles we may place our complete trust and confidence in your mercy, and serve you always in holiness and purity of life, to your honor and glory, through our only Mediator and Advocate, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O God, thou art my God, early will I seek thee: My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth greatly after thee, in a barren and dry land, where no water is. O satisfie this thirst with thy freshest waters of comfort, in Iesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
O Lord, have mercy upon me; I have waited for thee: Be thou my arm in the morning, and my help in the time of trouble: that I may exalt thy Name which dwellest on high, that I may live in the stability of thy times, and that thy fear may be my treasure, even for Iesus Christ his sake. Amen.
O Almighty God and merciful Father, grant, I beseech thee, that as I do believe thy only Son our Lord to have ascended into the heavens; so I, and all thy faithful Servants, may in heart and mind thither ascend, and with thee continually dwel. Amen.
O God, the King of glory, who hast exalted thine only Son Iesus Christ with great triumph into thy Kingdom in heaven, I beseech thee leave neither thy Church, nor my poor self comfortless; but send us thy Holy Ghost to comfort us, and exalt us unto the same place, whither our Saviour Christ is gone before, who liveth and raigneth with thee, one God world without end. Amen.
HEar my prayer, O God, and hide not thy self from my petition. Take heed unto me and hear me, how I mourn in my prayer and am vexed. Give me strength and comfort in thee, through Iesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
O God, the proud are risen against me, and the Congregation of factious men have sought after my soul, and have not set thee before their eyes. But thou Lord God art full of compassion and mercy, long suffering, plenteous in goodness and truth. O turn thee then unto me, and have mercy upon me: shew some token upon me for good, that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed, because thou Lord hast holpen me, and comforted me in Iesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Assist me mercifully, O Lord, in these, and all other my supplications and prayers, and dispose my ways towards the attainment of everlasting salvation, that among all the changes and chances of this mortal life, I may ever be defended by thy most gracious and ready help, through Iesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
O Deliver me from them whose words are softer then butter, when they have war in their heart: And from them whose words are smoother then oyl, while they are very swords. Lord, I cast my burthen upon thee, that thou mayst sustain me, and not suffer me to fall for ever. Amen.
Bless me, O Lord, when thou chastenest me, and teachest me in thy law; that thou mayst give me patience in time of adversity, till the pit be digged up for the ungodly. O Lord, fail me not, neither forsake me, for I am part of thine Inheritance in Iesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Almighty and merciful God, of thy bountiful goodness keep me from all things that may hurt me; that I being ready both in body and soul, may with a free heart accomplish those things that thou wouldest have done, through Iesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
O AEterne Deus, quamdiu hic in terris sum, supplex oro, in quantum terrena mihi serviunt, doceant me esse Dominum suum, sed a te constitutum: In quantum molesta sunt, doceant me servire …ibi Domino meo, cui dum non obtempero, illa in justam vindictam molesta esse solent: Ut sive illa mihi serviant, sive non, ego semper serviam tibi, in & per Jesum Christum Dominum nostrum. Amen.
Hold not thy tongue, O God of my praise; for the mouth of the ungodly, yea, and the mouth of the deceitful is opened upon me: And they have spoken against me with false tongues, they compassed me about also with words of hatred, and fought against me without a cause. But I give my self unto prayer; Lord, forgive them, and hear me. Amen.
O God which art the author of peace, and lover of concord, in knowledge of whom standeth our eternal life, whose service is perfect freedome; defend me and all thy servants in all assaults of our enemies, that we surely trusting in thy defence, may not fear the power of any adversaries, through the might of Iesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
DIc, ô Domine mi Jesu, doce, disca a te, quod doceam de te. Amen
Deliver me, O Lord, from the man that is evil, and preserve me from the cruel man, which imagines mischief in his heart, and stirs up strife all the day long: The proud have laid a snare for me, and spread their net abroad with cords, and set traps in my way. Lord keep me from treacherous hands, and preserve me, that though they purpose, yet they may not be able to overthrow my goings, even for Iesus Christ his sake. Amen.
O God, from whom all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works do proceed: Give unto me, and all thy servants, that peace which the world cannot give, that both our hearts may be set to obey thy commandments, and also that by thee we being defended from the fear of our enemies, may pass our time in rest and quietness, through the merits of Iesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.
HAve mercy upon me O God, have mercy upon me, for my soul trusteth in thee, and in the shadow of thy wings will I trust, till these and all other my afflictions be over-past. O send out thy mercy and truth upon me, even for Iesus Christ his sake. Amen.
Amen.
Almighty God, vouchsafe, I beseech thee, to direct, sanctifie and govern both my heart and body in the wayes of thy Laws, and in the works of thy Commandments, that through thy mighty protection, both here and ever I may be preserved by night and by day, in body and in soul, through our Lord and Saviour Iesus Christ. Amen.
O Lord, I cry unto thee, hearken unto me, O God. Thou holdest my eyes waking: I am so feeble that I cannot speak: And in the night season my soul refuseth comfort; yet even then give me grace especially, that I may commune with mine own heart, and search out my spirits, and compose them in thee, that I may rise to serve thee. Amen.
Da mihi, Domine, dormitum abeunti requiem corporis & animae. Custodi me a caliginoso peccati somno, ab omni tenebrosa & nocturna mollitie. Ignita maligni tela dolose in me vibrata extinguito. Rebelliones carnis meae reprimito. Et omnem terrenam & mundanam in me cogitationem sopito, per Jesum Christum Dominum nostrum. Amen.
I humbly beseech thee, O Father, mercifully to look upon my infirmities; and for the glory of thy Names sake, turn from me and the rest of thy servants, all those evils which we most justly have deserved: And grant that in all our troubles we may put our whole trust and confidence in thy mercy, and evermore serve thee in holiness and pureness of living, to thy honour and glory, through our only Mediator and Advocate, Iesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
