The Bond of Blood and the Power of the Rosary
A woman who signed a pact with the devil is delivered through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin and the practice of the Holy Rosary.
109. In 1578, a woman from Antwerp surrendered herself to the devil through a written contract signed in her own blood.1 Some time later, she felt a sharp regret for it and a great desire to repair the harm she had done.2 She looked for a prudent and charitable confessor to learn how she might be freed from the devil's power. She found a wise and devout priest who advised her to see Father Henry, the director of the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary at the Saint Dominic convent, to enroll and make her confession. She asked for him, and instead of the Father she found the devil in the form of a religious, who rebuked her severely and told her she had no more graces to hope for from God, nor any way to revoke what she had signed—which distressed her greatly. But she didn't lose hope in God's mercy; she went back looking for the Father again, only to find the devil, who rebuffed her just as before. She went back a third time, and by divine permission she found Father Henry, whom she was seeking; he received her charitably, urged her to trust in God's goodness and to make a good confession; he received her into the confraternity and ordered her to recite the Rosary often. One day, during the Mass the Father was celebrating for her, the Blessed Virgin forced the devil to give her back the deed she had signed; and so she was delivered by Mary's authority and by devotion to the holy Rosary” (Mystical Rosebush, 7th decade, ch. 7).

109. «L'an 1578, une femme d'Anvers s'était donnée au démon par une cédule signée de son sang. Quelque temps après, elle en eut un sensible regret et un grand désir de réparer le mal qu'elle avait fait. Elle chercha un confesseur prudent et charitable, pour savoir par quel moyen elle pourrait être affranchie de la puissance du diable. Elle trouva un prêtre sage et dévot, qui lui conseilla d'aller trouver le père Henri, directeur de la confrérie du saint Rosaire, du couvent de Saint-Dominique, pour s'y faire enrôler et se confesser. Elle le demanda et, au lieu du Père, elle trouva le diable, sous la figure d'un religieux, qui la reprit sévèrement et lui dit qu'elle n'avait plus de grâces à espérer de Dieu, ni de moyen de révoquer ce qu'elle avait signé, ce qui l'affligea fort. Mais elle ne perdit pas toute espérance en la miséricorde de Dieu, elle retourna encore chercher le Père et elle trouva encore le diable, qui la rebuta comme auparavant. Elle retourna pour la troisième fois et elle trouva par la permission divine le père Henri qu'elle cherchait, qui la reçut charitablement, l'exhorta à se confier en la bonté de Dieu et à faire une bonne confession; il la reçut dans la confrérie et lui ordonna de réciter souvent le Rosaire.
Un jour, pendant la Messe que le Père célébrait pour elle, la Sainte Vierge força le diable de lui rendre la cédule qu'elle avait signée; et ainsi elle fut délivrée par l'autorité de Marie et la dévotion du saint Rosaire» (Rosier mystique, 7ème dizaine, ch. 7).
