LXI. O Euchari, in leta via (Sequentia de sancto Euchario)
Eucharius in the Joyful Way
Eucharius walks joyfully with Christ, loving him completely and embracing his teaching while his fearful companions cannot bear the sight.
O Eucharius, you walked in a joyful way, where you stayed with the Son of God, touching him and seeing the miracles he worked. You loved him completely, when your companions were terrified, because they were only human and had no ability to look upon goodness with clarity. But you, burning with love full of charity, embraced him, since you gathered up the bundles of his teachings to yourself.
Radiant with the Word
Eucharius is filled with the Word of God in the fire of the dove and made radiant like the dawn, building up the foundation of the church.
O Eucharius, you were most blessed, when the Word of God filled you in the fire of the dove. Where, like the dawn, you were made radiant, and so you built up the foundation of the church.
The Church's Shining Day
In Eucharius's breast shines the day of three tabernacles, through his mouth the church feeds on the cup of holiness, and by his teaching the church becomes rational, crying out over the mountains.
And in your breast shines the day in which three tabernacles stand upon a marble pillar in the city of God. Through your mouth the church chews the cud of the old and new wine, that is, the cup of holiness. And yet in your teaching the church has been made rational, so that it cried out over the mountains, in order that the hills and the trees might bow down and suckle at its breasts.
A Living Burnt Offering
Eucharius is asked to pray with clear voice to the Son of God for the crowd, that they may become a living burnt offering before God's altar.
Now, with your clear voice, pray to the Son of God on behalf of this crowd, so that it may not fail in the worship of God, but may become a living burnt offering before the altar of God.✦
