The Art of Gentle Correction
Christ instructs on the necessity of using discernment, patience, and private correction when guiding a spouse toward spiritual maturity.
The Son of God says to his bride: Where a splinter has lodged near the heart, it shouldn't be pulled out suddenly and rashly, but cut away gradually and gently. A good wife is to be loved, yet for someone striving toward perfection, she can sometimes be an obstacle. And so, a man who is bound to his wife by marriage should, when he sees his own peril, sometimes use gentle words like an advisor, sometimes use moderately stern ones like a teacher, and sometimes use the surgeon's approach of cutting away what's harmful. Because a wife should be listened to prudently so that she may be comforted, she must be corrected modestly and in private so that she isn't slighted, and she should be instructed with dignity, though at times she must not be listened to, so that justice is not set aside.
The Virtues of a Godly Queen
The text outlines the essential virtues of humility, prudence, and compassion, citing biblical and holy examples of women who embodied these traits.
Therefore, it belongs to a queen to have humility of heart, modesty in her actions, prudence in what she does, and compassion for the needy. David was calmed by a woman's prudence, so he wouldn't commit a sin; through humility, Esther reached the kingdom and remained there, but Jezebel was cast down by pride and greed. And Mary, my mother, has become the mother of everyone in heaven and on earth because of her compassion and love.
Discerning the Spirits
Christ promises future instruction regarding the discernment of good and evil spirits for the queen seeking counsel.
Since this queen you're praying for is seeking my counsel through you, answer her on my behalf and tell her that she's experiencing promptings and suggestions from two spirits—a good one and an evil one—which I'll explain to you another time.
