The Shepherds' Adoration

The shepherds arrive at the manger to verify the angelic announcement and worship the newborn Savior.

I also saw in that same place, while the Virgin Mary and Joseph were standing and adoring the child in the manger, that the shepherds who were watching their flock arrived then to see and adore the infant. When they saw him, they first wanted to find out whether it was a boy or a girl, because the angels had announced to them that the Savior of the world was born, and they hadn't used the feminine form for 'Savior.' Then the Virgin Mother showed them the child's nature and his male sex. They immediately adored him with great reverence and joy, and afterward they returned, praising and glorifying God for everything they had heard and seen.
