Christ instructs the bride to nourish her body moderately so that her physical weakness does not impede her spiritual receptivity.
Because the bride was suffering so much in her head and body from fasting and vigils, and because her soul was so weakened that she couldn't fully grasp the words she heard when Christ spoke to her, Christ added: "Go and give your body the moderate nourishment it needs, because this is what I want: so that your flesh has the moderate nourishment it needs, and your soul isn't hindered from spiritual things by its weakness."

Cum sponsa esset nimis de ieiunio et vigiliis in capite et corpore defectuosa et loquente cum ea Christo animus eius ex debilitate minus perfecte perciperet verba audita, tunc addidit Christus:
