The Son says, "Don't pay attention to those wicked, dancing scoundrels, for I won't come to them as a friend, but as one who will take vengeance on them." Woe to them, because in their time of peace they refused to seek the eternal good! I tell you that the people of that generation have sprung from a root of bitterness, and they have gathered the fruits of their own vanity and greed.
From Judgment to Mercy
The inevitable consequences of vanity are contrasted with the promise of grace for the humble.
So they will now descend, and poverty, captivity, shame, humiliation, and sorrow will rise up against them. Nevertheless, those who humble themselves will find grace in my eyes.

Ve eis, quia tempore pacis sue noluerunt querere eternum bonum! Dico tibi, quod surrexerunt homines generacionis illius de radice amaritudinis et congregauerunt fructus vanitatis et cupiditatis sue.
Ideo nunc descendent, et consurget eis paupertas et captiuitas et pudor et humiliacio et dolor. Verumptamen qui se humiliauerint, inuenient graciam in oculis meis."
