Mater Dei dicit, quod bene potest vocari aurea hora illa, in qua ipsa a parentibus concepta fuit.
The Golden Hour of Conception
The Mother of God reflects on the purity and obedience that marked the moment of her conception.
The Mother says: "When my father and mother married, obedience played a larger part than their own will, and divine charity was more at work there than the pleasure of the flesh." The hour I was conceived can truly be called a golden and precious hour, for while other couples come together out of carnal pleasure, my parents came together out of obedience and the command of God; my conception was, therefore, a golden hour indeed.
Hidden Grace and Divine Timing
God ordained that the mystery of the Mother's conception remain hidden until the appointed time, mirroring the unfolding of salvation history.
For that was the beginning of the salvation of all, and the darkness seemed to hasten toward the light. God wanted to do something unique in his work, something hidden from the ages, just as he did with the blossoming of the dry rod. But know this: my conception wasn't known to everyone, because God willed that—just as natural law and the free choice between good and evil came before the written law, and the written law followed later to restrain all disordered impulses—it should please God that his friends would devoutly wonder about my conception, and that each one would show their own zeal, until the truth became clear at the preordained time.
Read the original Latin
Deus namque singulare quoddam et a seculo absconditum facere voluit in opere suo, quemadmodum fecit in virga arida florescente.
