Chapter 2Revel.6.2

The Mercy of a Final Will

Christ reveals that even a life lived in opposition to Him can find grace through a sincere desire for amendment.

The Son spoke to the bride, saying: "The person who is now ill, for whom you are praying, was far too indifferent toward me and lived his whole life in opposition to me." But now, tell him that if he is willing to amend his life, should he escape death, I will still grant him grace. Let him be urged, therefore, toward a will to amend, because out of my great mercy and the bitterness of his punishment, I have compassion on him."

The Justice of Purgation

Following the soul's death, Christ explains that while mercy spares the soul from eternal punishment, the necessity of purification remains severe.

And when that same person died before the first hour of the office, the Lord appeared to the bride again and said, "Look, consider how just I am in my judgment!" This person, burdened by such great weakness, came to my judgment; and although he was judged to receive grace because of his good will, his soul will still endure such bitter punishment in purgatory before it is fully purified that no mortal can even imagine it. So, what will those people suffer who get their own way in everything in this world and are never troubled by any hardships?
