Chapter 69PrecesPriv.1.69

Preces Quotidianae

Petitions and Commemoration

The prayer offers intercessions for various needs and commemorates the Virgin Mary and all saints, committing all to Christ.

and for times of peace; for those who sail, those who travel, the sick, those who labor, and captives, and for their salvation.1 Help us, save us, have mercy on us, and keep us by your grace, O God. Having commemorated the most holy, pure, and above all others blessed Mother of God and ever-Virgin Mary, with all the Saints, let us commit ourselves, and one another, and our whole life, to Christ our God. To you, O Lord,23

Doxology, Blessing, and Scriptural Source

A doxology acknowledging God's glory is followed by the apostolic blessing from 2 Corinthians 13:14, with its scriptural citation.

For glory, honor, and adoration belong to you. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with me, and with us all.✦4 Amen. 2 Cor.5 xiii.6 14.

Commendation and Doxology with Scriptural Reference

The speaker commends themselves and all they have to God, offering a doxology, and concludes with the scriptural source from Jude 24-25 and an Amen.

I commit myself, and those who belong to me, along with everything that is mine, to the One who is able to keep me from sin and present me blameless before the presence of His glory—to the only wise God and to our Savior.✦7 to whom be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever.8 Jude. 24, 25. Amen.

Opening Address of a New Prayer

A brief address to the Lord begins a new prayer, though it is incomplete.

O Domine, mi Domine,

Scripture echoes

  1. ↩2Cor.13.14 — The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
  2. ↩Rom.16.27 — to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be glory forever. Amen.

Notes

  1. 1 ↩Source reading 'zegrotis' is treated as OCR corruption of 'aegrotis' (the sick), matching the standard litany sequence after navigantibus/itinerantibus.
  2. 2 ↩OCR/print forms 'Sanctissimze, intemeratz, czeteros, benedictze, Deiparz, Marize' are read as Sanctissimae, intemeratae, ceteros, benedictae, Deiparae, Mariae (genitive Marian titles).
  3. 3 ↩'Deiparae' rendered 'Mother of God' (God-bearer). 'memoria habita' is ablative absolute: having made remembrance / commemorated. The trailing 'Tibi Domine,' continues into the next section's doxology.
  4. 4 ↩Source abbreviations/corruptions normalized for sense: 'nostr' → nostri; 'Chantas' → Caritas; 'S. Spiritus' → Sancti Spiritus (standard Pauline blessing formula).
  5. 5 ↩Source reads "32 Cor."; almost certainly a corrupt citation form of "2 Cor." (2 Corinthians), completing the Pauline blessing just given.
  6. 6 ↩Source reads "xm."; most plausible intended chapter numeral is Roman xiii (13), matching 2 Corinthians 13.
  7. 7 ↩Source reading "gloriz suz" is treated as OCR corruption of "gloriae suae" ("of His glory"), matching the Jude doxology continued in the next section.
  8. 8 ↩Source reading has OCR corruptions: nune → nunc; szcula → saecula. Translated the intended doxology formula (cf. Jude 25).
