Notes
- 1 ↩Reading Prcefectis as Praefectis (magistrates/prefects); list continues the dative intercession from PrecesPriv.1.39.7.s7.
- 2 ↩Readable core is Mendicantes; prefix pu λον is corrupt and was not forced into the English.
- 3 ↩Reading Germimum as Germinum; Jurisprudenti: as Jurisprudentiae (or Jurisprudentium). Trailing '( ... in 4 .' looks like damaged markup or print debris, not translated.
- 4 ↩Only Urbanis and disciplina are securely Latin. Reconstructed as urban schools with learning and discipline; Greek and letter-fragments (ἀετόν, Er OE ἢ (ION) treated as damaged text for eruditione / similar.
- 5 ↩Beneficentia reads as a rubric/heading for the next petition (kindness or benefits received), not as a vocative address. retribuas is 2nd-person subjunctive addressed to God: recompense/reward.
- 6 ↩Source reads hane; treated as corrupt for hanc (this life), which fits the grammar and sense with vitam.
- 7 ↩Single-word fragment: Latin instituti may be genitive of institutum ('of the institute/order/foundation') or a participial form of instituo ('those established/instructed'). Neighboring sections ('Cura mihi demandata' / 'Eorum qui…') suggest a prayer-list heading; genitive 'of the institute' is the most plausible reading.
- 8 ↩Source is fragmentary and likely corrupt: the digit «4» has no Latin sense here and is treated as an editorial/OCR artifact; «ja» is read as «jam» («already» / «now»). The relative clause has no finite verb, so the English keeps a bracketed gap rather than inventing a predicate (e.g. helped, wronged, prayed for).
- 9 ↩Latin is a bare genitive pair with no finite verb or governing head in this section: Collegii (of the College) and Parcecie (likely a place-name or institutional genitive). Neighboring sections are likewise fragmentary (…a me unquam. / ordinati), so this is treated as a list item in an intercession or memorial sequence rather than a complete clause.
- 10 ↩Single-word fragment: Latin ordinati (perfect passive of ordino) most naturally reads as a class in an intercession list—‘the ordained.’ Neighboring sections list institutions in the genitive (Collegii, Parcecie; Fontis Australis; Southwell, Ædis S. Pauli), so this may also be a truncated or list-item form; sense is not fully recoverable from this section alone.
- 11 ↩Fontis Australis is a Latin calque of the place-name Southwell (south + well/spring); the following sentence supplies the English form. sc. is read as scilicet, 'namely'.
- 12 ↩ZAEdis is treated as a corrupt/typographic form of Ædis/Aedis (genitive of aedes, 'church/temple'); S. Pauli = of St. Paul. If a different expansion is intended, re-check the witness.
- 13 ↩Occidentalis Monasteri is the Latin calque for Westminster (West Monastery); sc. = scilicet, ‘namely’ / ‘that is.’ Parallel pattern with previous section Fontis Australis, sc. Southwell.
