Preces Quotidianae

Prayer for Restraint and Approach

A plea to be kept from vanity and compelled to draw near to God, with a scriptural reference.

Lest I find a way to pursue vanity. With bit and bridle bind my jaws when I do not draw near to you.1 Ps.2 31.3 9. O Lord, compel me to come in to you.

Trinitarian Confession of Faith

A brief confession of belief in the Father, the Word (Son), and the Spirit.

I believe, Lord, the Father In you, the one Word who is God.4 the Spirit.

  1. ↩1Pet.2.9 — But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Notes

  1. 1 ↩Source reads 'frzno'; translated as the intended 'freno' (bridle/bit), pairing with 'camo' in the standard biblical collocation.
  2. 2 ↩Corrupt citation token 'JPsae/.' rendered as the standard Psalm abbreviation matching the preceding verse's biblical form and the following numeral pair.
  3. 3 ↩Corrupt numeral 'xxxu.' rendered as Vulgate Psalm 31, the chapter of the 'camo et freno' verse.
  4. 4 ↩Source surface `te4` is treated as `te` plus an intrusive numeral/footnote marker (not part of the Latin sense).
  5. 5 ↩Source is only the character sequence 'l.' with no recoverable Latin word or syntax. Neighboring context (…Spiritum / A tua paterna affectione…) does not securely restore a full form; left uninvented.
  6. 6 ↩Clause breaks mid-creedal formula; neighboring section continues with 'Caro factum est' (was made flesh). 'Quod' takes its antecedent from 'Verbo' (the Word).
  7. 7 ↩Source reads 'Saneti'; most plausible intended form is 'Sancti' (saints/holy ones). Rendered accordingly.
  8. 8 ↩populum acquisitionis is the Vulgate idiom (cf. 1 Pet 2:9) for a people acquired as God’s own possession; societas here is fellowship/company, not a civic society.
