Notes
- 1 ↩Latin reads 'ad et sanctimoniam conversationis'; most plausible sense is a petition for sanctimonia conversationis (holiness of conduct/way of life). Word order 'ad et' and trailing '1 P»ef.' look corrupt or editorial.
- 2 ↩Communionis Sanctorum kept as the creedal 'Communion of Saints' (not Eucharistic Communion). The second clause uses an infinitive construction (certo exspectare nos) rendered as a petitionary purpose clause.
- 3 ↩Source 'Hane' read as 'Hanc'; 'Jwd.' as 'Jud.' (Jude).
- 4 ↩Source 't Patre pietatem diligam ; Omnipotente potentiam reverear' reconstructed as 'ut Patrem pietate diligam; Omnipotentem potentia reverear' (parallel ablatives of manner).
- 5 ↩The source inserts a bare numeral “4” between “ex” and “Christo” (“ex 4 Christo”). Translated as “ex Christo,” taking the numeral as non-lexical print/reference contamination rather than part of the prayer.
- 6 ↩The genitives “Salutis” and “Unctionis” can be read either as titles of Jesus/Christ (“Jesus of Salvation… Christ of Unction”) or as the things shared (“partaker of salvation… of unction”). The vocative-title reading is preferred because it preserves the Jesus/salvation and Christ/anointing wordplay; the partitive sense remains adjacent.
- 7 ↩“prrmos” is treated as a corrupt reading of “primos” (“first”), yielding “primos motus,” the ascetical “first motions/stirrings.”
- 8 ↩“Antipathia peccatorum” is rendered “aversion to sins” (hostility toward sins), not mere emotional dislike. “Primos motus” keeps the traditional ascetical sense of the first interior motions toward sin, before consent.
