ORATIO XIII.
A Prayer for Parents, Family, and All Who Are Dear
The suppliant cries out to God for the salvation of parents, siblings, kin, benefactors, and servants—both living and dead—asking for mercy, forgiveness, and eternal life.
Ruler, Lord God, who marvelously founded all things and by your arrangement created everything; who willed that the spreading of offspring should come from man and woman, and instructed that love be shown toward father and mother — hear me, merciful God, as I cry out to you for the salvation of my father and my mother, whom by your providence you deigned to prepare for me, the most wretched; and for my brothers and sisters, and for everyone who is joined to me, a sinner, whether by blood relationship, or by household closeness, or by promise or by commitment, both the living and the dead, whose names and merits are known to you, Lord God of all — that you would deign to grant eternal life to the dead, and defend the living from every evil, and guide them onto the path of salvation; so that through true confession and true amendment of all their offenses, you would forgive their sins, and that, stripped of the flesh, they would become heirs through heavenly participation. Hear me, wretch that I am, most merciful God, as I beseech you for the souls of your servants, male and female, who wish me well and do good and serve me, and who have given their alms to me, and from whom I have received alms — whose names are known to you, Lord God of all — and who have commended themselves to my prayers, that you would bestow on them the gifts of your mercy and deign to place them in a place that pleases you, Savior of the world, who with God the Father and the Holy Spirit live and reign, etc.

Orationes sive Meditationes — Collection for Princess Adeliza of Normandy companion
There are 90 more prayers where these came from
Chosen Portion delivers the full Anselm collection — and the wider royal devotional archive — one daily prayer at a time, free.
Anselm told Adeliza to take these prayers a little at a time, and Chosen Portion does exactly that — serving the collection as paced daily portions rather than a book to skim.
- Pray through all 97 of Anselm's prayers and meditations, one portion each day
- Each prayer is broken into short sections so a 100-sentence meditation fits a 10-minute sitting
- Morning reminder at your chosen time, so the day starts with a written prayer instead of a blank
