XII. Sonus aenei Fustis.

XII. Sonus aenei Fustis.

10. You mock the ruin that is yours, wanting to rise to the heights against God, while you descend into hell, stripped of all honor and cast away from all happiness; I lay you low in confusion, and like a putrid corpse, I cast you aside, because you are in the throat of the ancient serpent, and from his mouth you bubble forth to deceive men. For you pour out a foam of filth over them with fervent wounds, and you strike them with fiery darts of trivial deeds; you blow forth the fury of murder against them, and you kill them; and in this way, you rush upon them hastily, so that they abandon the justice of God and despise God Himself. And in your schemes, you desire to bring all of God's works to confusion. Therefore, I wage war against you through the things I reject; and thus I manifest the strength of God in you, when you are brought to nothing.
