XXIII. Quod divina praecepia dentur a^iimae adimplenda.

The soul, by divine grace, firmly treads down the ancient Serpent and diligently imitates God in the exercise of virtues, as if it were the very strength of its own capability, because while observing divine commandments with good intention and right will, it carries all of its institutions, since these same commandments have been revealed and given, so that they may be borne and fulfilled by a faithful soul, as if those same institutions support it; and the soul is also the building and temple of the eternal Creator, like the work of the supreme craftsman, in which just and holy works and all that pertains to the blessed life that God will grant to His faithful are regarded as the tools of that same craftsman.
