LX. De obstinationis poenis purgatoriis.
LX. De obstinationis poenis purgatoriis.
And in those shadows, burning with pitch and sulfur, the souls of those who had a great lament were punished, who, while they were in their bodies, had imposed upon themselves the stubbornness of their minds. For they had hardened themselves against God, and in those shadows they burned; and since they had not shared in the virtues, they endured pitch; and because they had cast away kindness from themselves, the punishment of sulfur tormented them; and since they had not drawn their sighs to God from their hearts, they emitted a great lament. And I saw and understood these things.

Et Tidi tenebras, pice et sulphure ardentes, in quibus animae illorum magnum planctum habentes puniebantur, qui dum in corporibus suis essent, obstinationem mentis sibi imposuerant.
Nam qijoniam contra Deum duritiam in se habuerant, in his tenebris ardebant; et quoniam virtutibus non communicaverant, picem sustinebant; et quoniam benevolentiam a se projecerant, poena sulphuris eos laedebat; et quoniam suspiria de cordibus suis ad Deum non traxerant, planctum magnum emittebant.
Et vidi et intellexi haec.
