XI. Vei-ba fnfidelitatis.

XI. Vei-ba fnfidelitatis.

And he said, "If I avoid one thing, what will I gain by it, since I see and desire another?" What kind of life will give me a doubtful existence? I say this: It either is, or it isn't. And so, in seeking and requiring, in seeing and hearing, I find nothing. But if I see something through the manifestation of a creature that benefits me, what harm will it do me? But I walk in no paths, nor do I soar in any knowledge, except in those that I know well. For when I want to fly on the wings of the wind, I am brought low to the ground. Whether I ask the sun or the moon what I should do, they hardly respond to me. When I hear a sound, I don't know whether it benefits me or harms me. I don’t know what it predicts, except for what I see; this I know. I hear many rumors and many teachings, which I don't understand. Therefore, I will do whatever seems best for my benefit. >
