LXXVII. De poenitentia virginum lapsarum.

LXXVII. De poenitentia virginum lapsarum.

But those who break their vow of chastity and do not fulfill the commitment they made to God should expect to suffer the torments of the same sin, especially if they were consecrated virgins; they should cast aside the garments of virginity and receive the veils of widowhood through their spiritual director, and then both they and those who offered their vow of widowhood to God, but neglected it in the heat of lust, should punish themselves with the harshness of their clothing, fasting, and scourging, and seek God's grace through bending their knees and prayer.
