But those who have defiled themselves through adulterous fornication and have broken the just union that God has joined together by a wicked transgression, if they desire to escape the penalties of the same sin, should wear a harsh garment and afflict themselves with the most severe fasts and punishments according to the command of their ruler.

Qui autem adulterina fornicatione se foedaverint, et justam copulationera quam Deus conjunxit, nefaria transgressione disruperint, si poenas ejusdem pec-cati evadere desideraverint, asperam yestem induant, ac asperrimis jejuniis ac verberum castigationibus secundum praeceptum rectoris sui se affligant.
