LXXVI. De poenis desperantium.
LXXVI. De poenis desperantium.
And I saw a pit of great width and depth, in which there was burning sulfur and various worms. In this place, the souls of those were punished who, while they lived in the world, did not fully trust in God, but instead imposed every adversity that befell them upon the misfortune of their own nature. Because they did not trust in God, they found themselves in the same pit. And because they had sinned wickedly in their distrust, the same sulfurous fire burned them. And because they faced adversities due to the misfortune of their nature, they claimed that these afflictions of worms were present to them.
