XLVI. David ad eamdem rem.
XLVI. David ad eamdem rem.
Those who are alienated are sinners from the womb; they have strayed from the womb and have spoken falsehoods. Whose sense is such. Original sin arose through food, which turned the blessed and happy nature of humanity into mortality. Through food, good knowledge fell asleep, and bad knowledge arose through a foreign path. For those who are alienated are transgressors of justice, separated from true truth, so that the nature of man is alienated in a poisonous womb through the mouth of the Serpent, who in his deception asked why man should not eat the fruit. But when the first parents transgressed God's command through the counsel of the Serpent, they died in death. From this, the children born from them are alienated in their first conception, through the death of God's oblivion, away from the protection of holiness; and for this reason, they should have great and fitting abstinence in their foods, since the ancient enemy first deceived man with food in his gullet. When a person craves food, greed immediately arises, through which they seek to fill their belly with all kinds of food, leading them into error away from the paths of true knowledge. And so, people have strayed from the womb, namely when the first parents began to sin in the original sin, and when later, swayed by the same temptation, they fell into sin; for after tasting, the taste of sin was present, and when they completed this, they spoke falsely, because the Devil set up a great lie through food, by which he denied God and His justice. So too do all those who fill their bellies with gluttony from food and drunkenness from wine. Through gluttony, the children of men are deceitful, putting aside and denying the truth. And since the Devil's suggestion is present at the origin of humanity, people speak lies, just as the Devil does, and in this way, they kill themselves and others. For when they oppose God, who created heaven and earth, where will they be except in hell? But sometimes they call destruction life, and they pretend to create heaven with their empty words, which they have never seen and can never create; they also claim that destruction is a great honor; and with their lies, they deprive humanity in every way; they even praise humanity through illusion and kill it through deception, and in this way, they resemble those who made the calf at Oreb and who said that this was the God of Israel. And so these people act, who dwell in lies, and who speak empty words to themselves, and who promise themselves everything in all created things, according to their own desires. And all who do this are dead, just as the dead idols are, and they are with the North Wind, and the North Wind is with them, and so they will fall.
