VIII. Responsum misericordiae
VIII. Responsum misericordiae
And again, from the aforementioned cloud, I heard a voice speaking to this image, saying: "What do you say?" The herbs, with their flowers, give off a fragrance to other herbs, and stone reflects light to stone; every creature shows its embrace by its own gesture. All creatures also serve humanity, and in that service, they willingly offer their help. But you are not worthy to have any form of a human being, for only the most savage appearance, devoid of mercy, is evident in you, and you are nothing but the bitter smoke in the darkness of wickedness. But I am in the air and the dew, and in all the sweetest greenery of the grass, and my innermost being is full, providing help to everyone. For I was present in that Fiat, by which all creatures came into being and serve humanity; but you were excluded there. For my eyes see all that is necessary, and I join myself to them, gathering all the broken to health, for I am the balm of sorrows, and my words are right wherever you are the smoke of the altar.
