LXXIII. Verba lacob
LXXIII. Verba lacob
Simeon and Levi, instruments of wickedness, may my soul not enter their counsel, and may my glory not be with their assembly; for in their anger they killed men, and in their will they tore down a wall. Cursed is their fury, for it is relentless; and their anger, for it is harsh. I will divide them in Jacob, and I will scatter them in Israel. His sense is such. Anger and hatred, which are joined together in malice, are vessels of wickedness, and they are always opposed to God; they burn up all that is just through great injustices, and they produce their own curses against those things. But in the depths of their thoughts, the minds of the righteous should not be, because they transgress the law of the Lord, and because they do not build upon the rock, upon which the feet of the blessed stand, to declare all the wonderful works of God. For all the paths and structures of the blessed desires and the blessed works are in the commandments of God. In their studies, where they think they can fulfill all their desires, and in the places where they seek to carry out deceitful plots, let not the honor of the just be obscured; nor let it be in their midst, lest it be diminished; but let the glory of the just be with the angels and with the angels of God, and with those who contemplate the face of the Divinity in a mirror. And don't go with those who, through deceitful means, undermine the virtues in the blessed, or who, with their cunning craft, breach the defenses that the blessed teachers have set up for the protection of the elect. For those cursed with the devil are in their madness, since they stubbornly fight against God, opposing themselves to Him; and they are also inflexible in their wickedness, because they do not want to turn away from evil, but desire to persist in the damnation of perdition through their evil deeds. Therefore, they are also divided into the onslaught of that people, who will oppress them in such a way that, like a serpent seeking to hide in a cave, they will be so worn out by him that they can scarcely breathe; and they will be scattered among those who confess God, not to share in their happiness, but to be separated like chaff thrown away from them. Because they do not follow God, He gives them over to oblivion, so that they will have neither the prosperity of this world nor the happiness of their souls; but like chaff blown by the wind, they are scattered into many passions of wicked desires, having no peace either with those who serve God or with those who toil in this world. 40 S. What good is it to you to have a name that is praised, if you lack the grace of God?
