V. Verha joculatricis.
V. Verha joculatricis.
The third image of man was different, except that it had a crooked nose, and its hands were like the feet of a bear, while its feet appeared like the feet of a griffin. But he had black hair and was dressed in a pale garment. He said, "It's better to play than to be sad; for play is not wrong, since all creation rejoices in it, and so I will rejoice with them." If I were to show myself to people, they would reject me and run away from me. But I won't do that. For I will move to many parts of play, so that all may rejoice with me. God created the air, which brings me a sweet sound, and which has brought forth the flowers of freshness for me, in which I nourish the sight of my eyes. And why shouldn't I rejoice with them? People also play with animals, and animals play with people, and this is fitting.

Si enim me tri> stem hominibus exhiberem, me abhorrerent, et a me fugerent.
Sed hoc non faciam.
Nam in multas partes ludendi me movebo, quatenus omnes mecum gau:& deant.
