XXV. Deus ignis operans est

XXV. Deus ignis operans est

And God is eternal, and eternity is fire, and this is God. And God is not a hidden fire, nor a silent fire, but a working fire, because the power of God is above all understanding and thought of creatures, arranging all things and governing all things, just as the head rules the whole body; for He gives a rational life, namely, when the eyes see, the ears hear, the nostrils smell, and His mouth speaks words in rationality. Therefore, God is the head of all the faithful, but He does not reveal everything that is hidden in the secret of His Divinity, because in Him lies the hidden life of all lives, just as He also makes His ministers the flame of fire with judgment. For judgment is heard before it is executed, just as it is with God. He also examined the people who lived before the Law, as if they were on his shoulders, with water and fire, because others were not examined in the same way. Then, in the Law, He purified them with various and severe punishments, which He later completed entirely when He became man, destroying the Devil in His own strength, and gently cleansing humanity from the filth of their sins through true justice, as the prophet says: "Whose power is upon His shoulder." XXVL The Words of Isaiah, 38. His sense is such. Justice appeared in the power of God through man when God became man, where, like on the shoulder of His strength, He destroyed the works of the Devil and stripped hell bare; and where, through His apostles, He proclaimed the Gospel by baptizing all nations. For God perfected justice for humanity in Himself, who was formed from the dust and fell into mortality. For indeed, man, seduced by the devil, is in the prime of his flowering; he opens his womb and brings forth all kinds of filth from within himself; hence, he signifies all the children of men, because they are sown in a poisonous fire of lust. God, however, is in the pure, virgin flesh through the warmth of the Spirit. jnrUnu A. — «) Ps. CIII, as in Hebrews. To the Hebrews. •» 7. — Is. IX, 6. — Tragic after spectacles, in which our poets are easily unmatched by any other poet, if there were a place in the academic parallels that are now sung about, theology boldly tackles the weighty dogmatic statements, which among the other interpreters of Scripture does not find the last word. But it’s not our purpose to explore these hidden dogmas. Read carefully some things. The holy one, without the poisonous seed of man, gathered the flesh; and thus, having been made man, he wiped away all the poisonous filth of the Devil from humanity, because he himself, being without sin, saved sinners cleansed from their sins.

Scripture echoes

  1. Isa.9.6For the increase of his government and for peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.
