The Sweet Yoke of God's Will
Catherine encourages her brother to embrace God's will as a sweet yoke that lightens every burden.
In the name of Jesus Christ crucified and of sweet Mary. Dearest and most beloved brother in Christ Jesus. I, Catherine, servant and slave of the servants of Jesus Christ, comfort you in the precious blood of the Son of God, with a desire to see you fully united and transformed according to God's will; knowing that He is the holy and sweet yoke that turns every bitterness into sweetness. Every heavy burden becomes light under this most holy yoke of God's sweet will, without which you cannot please God; instead, you would taste the sting of hell. Be comforted, be comforted, dearest brother, and don't falter under this discipline of God; but trust, for when human help fails, divine help is near. God will provide for you.
The Virtue of Holy Patience
Using the example of Job, Catherine exhorts her brother to practice patience and trust in God's eventual reward.
Consider that Job lost his possessions, his children, and his health; his wife remained with him as a constant affliction: and after God tested his patience, He restored everything to him double, and in the end, eternal life. Patient Job was never disturbed; but always employing the virtue of holy patience, he said: 'The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.' I want you to do the same, dearest brother; be a lover of virtue, with a holy patience, and with frequent confession, which will often help you bear your labors. I tell you: God will show His kindness and mercy, and He will reward you for every burden you have borne for His love. Remain in the holy and sweet love of God. Sweet Jesus, love of Jesus.

Al nome di Gesù Cristo crocifisso e di Maria dolce.
Carissimo e dilettissimo fratello in Cristo Gesù. Io Catarina, serva e schiava de’ servi di Gesù Cristo, vi conforto nel prezioso sangue del Figliuolo di Dio: con desiderio di vedervi tutto accordato e trasformato con volontà di Dio; sapendo che lui è quello giogo santo e dolce che ogni amaritudine fa tornare in dolcezza. Ogni gran peso diventa leggero sotto questo santissimo giogo della dolce volontà di Dio, senza la quale non potresti piacere a Dio, anzi gusteresti l’arra dell’inferno. Confortatevi, confortatevi, carissimo fratello, e non venite meno sotto questa disciplina di Dio; ma confidatevi, che quando l’aiuto umano vien meno, l’aiuto divino è presso. Iddio vi provvedere. Pensate che Giobbe perdette l’avere e’ figliuoli e la sanità; rimasegli la donna sua per un continuo flagello: e poi che Dio ebbe provata la pazienzia sua, gli rende ogni cosa a doppio, e alla fine vita eterna. Giobbe paziente non si disturbò mai; ma sempre adoperando la virtù della santa pazienzia, diceva: «Dio me l’ha date, Dio me l’ha tolte; sia il nome di Dio benedetto». Così voglio che facciate voi, carissimo fratello; che siate amatore della virtù, con una pazienzia santa, con una confessione spessa, che vi farà portare spesso le vostre fadighe.
E io vi dico: Dio userà la sua benignità e misericordia, e rimunereravvi d’ogni fadiga che per lo suo amore voi averete portata. Permanete nella santa e dolce dilezione di Dio. Gesù dolce, Gesù amore.
