The Sacrifice of Love
The believer contemplates the crucifixion of Jesus and prays to be spiritually nailed to his feet in love.
We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, because by your holy Cross you have redeemed the world. Think of how Jesus, thrown down on the cross, stretches out his hands and offers the sacrifice of his life to the Eternal Father for our salvation. Those barbarians nail him there, then raise the cross and leave him to die in agony on that infamous gibbet.1 My despised Jesus, nail this heart of mine to your feet, so that it may stay there forever in love with you and never leave you again.
A Prayer of Repentance and Union
The devotee expresses deep sorrow for sin and a desire for eternal union with the crucified Christ.
I love you, my Jesus, more than myself; with all my heart I repent of having offended you. Forgive me, and do not let me be separated from you. Grant that I may always love you, and then do with me as you please.

Ti adoriamo, o Cristo, e ti benediciamo, perché con la tua santa Croce hai redento il mondo.
Considera come Gesù gettato sulla croce stende le mani e offre all’Eterno Padre il sacrificio della sua vita per la nostra salvezza. Lo inchiodano quei barbari e poi alzando la croce lo lasciano a morire di dolore su quel patibolo infame. – Disprezzato mio Gesù, inchioda questo mio cuore ai tuoi piedi, affinché resti lì per sempre ad amarti e non ti lasci più.
Io ti amo, Gesù mio, più di me stesso, mi pento con tutto il cuore di averti offeso. Perdonami e non permettere che mi separi da te. Fa’ che sempre ti ami e poi disponi di me come ti piace.
