De edificacione castrorum Tapiow, et Locstete in terra Sambie.
Castles Built to Subdue the Sambians
During the second rebellion, the Teutonic brothers built and fortified the castles of Tapiow and Locstete in Sambian territory to restrain the wickedness of the local population.
During the second rebellion, they built the castle of Tapiow — which the Prussians call Surgurbia — and in time, the castle of Wiclantsort (now called Locstete), named after a certain Sambian named Laucstiete, who lived in that same place. They fortified these castles so they could more easily keep the Sambians' wickedness in check.
