De depopulacione Revalie terre regis Dacie.
The Devastation of Reval by David of Gartha
David the castellan of Gartha leads a Lithuanian army into the Danish land of Reval, burning, plundering, capturing over five thousand Christians, and desecrating churches and sacred vessels.
At that same time, David, the castellan of Gartha, entered Reval — the land of the king of Denmark — with an army of Lithuanians. Beyond the countless other harms with which he crushed that land by fire and plunder, he captured more than five thousand Christian people: nobles, married women, young women, and others of both sexes. He also foully desecrated the churches, the sacred vestments, and the altar vessels — everything that belonged to divine worship — treating them with brutal contempt.12
