De quodam fratre.

A Brother's Deathbed Vision

A dying brother in the castle of Welsais is caught up in a visionary experience, calls upon Christ upon returning to himself, and thereafter foretells the exact day and hour of his death.

Around that time, a certain brother in the castle of Welsais, suffering in his final illness, was laid in the arms of the priest Theodoric as he lay there, and was caught up for a long time, and saw many marvels. When at last he came back to himself, he said: 'Lord Theodoric, tell me, Jesus Christ, Son of God.' After this happened, he truly foretold the day and hour of his own death.

Hoc tempore quidam frater in Castro Welsais in infirmitate agonizans reclinatus in sinum fratris Theodorici sacerdotis jacens, raplus fuit per longum tempus, et vidit mirabilia multa. Tandem reversus ad se ait: domine Theodorice predicite mihi: Jesu Criste fili dei. Quo facto diem et horam mortis sue veraciter predixit.
