Chapter 163ChrP.4.163

De fratre Manegoldo magistro Prussie anno domini.

The Brief Mastery and Death of Brother Manegold

Brother Manegold served as master of Prussia for nearly two years after a distinguished tenure at Königsberg Castle, but died on the journey home after being summoned to the chapter following the election of a new master general.

Brother Manegold, master of Prussia, was in office for eleven years. He had previously served as commander at Königsberg Castle, where he accomplished many good things. Having been made master of the land of Prussia, and having already governed for nearly two years, he was called to the chapter after the election of Brother Burgard of Schwand as master general of the Teutonic Order — and on the journey home he died. He died on the way.
