De fratre Conrado magistro terre Prussie anno domini.
Brother Conrad's Appointment and Resignation
Brother Conrad of Wugwangen, master of Prussia, was appointed to lead both Prussia and Livonia after the deaths of their previous masters, but resigned the Prussian office after one year, unable to govern both lands.
Brother Conrad of Wugwangen, master of Prussia for ten years, was in charge that year. Here, after Brother Conrad of Tirbergk, master of the land of Prussia, had died, and Brother Ornestus, master of the land of Livonia, had been killed by the unbelievers, envoys from both lands petitioned the master general, and he was given to the brothers of both Prussia and Livonia as master in the year of the Lord 1279. But after one year had passed, since he realized he couldn't manage the governance of both lands through to the end, he resigned his office in Prussia and remained master of only the land of Livonia.1

Notes
- 1 ↩cum sentiret with subjunctive: causal reading chosen ('since he realized') over temporal ('when he realized') as most likely given the context of his subsequent resignation.
