Morning Offering and Commendation
The believer acknowledges God's protection through the night and commits their entire life and future into His hands.
Blessed be God, my Creator; blessed be God, my Savior; blessed be God, my highest comfort, who gives me health, life, and blessing, who is my protection and help, and who, according to his great and highly renowned mercy, has guarded me body and soul through this past night from many kinds of harm from Satan, and has brought me safely into this day. I ask you, heavenly Father, through the bloody sweat of Jesus Christ, your dear Son: take me this day also under your divine protection; shield me and uphold me inwardly and outwardly, so that no harm may come to me.1 For into your hands I commit today and every day my poor soul, my wretched body, my needy life, my senses, reason, understanding, and plans; all my thoughts, words, and works; my doing and leaving undone; my going out and coming in; my walking and standing; my sitting and lying down; my will and counsel; my devising and striving; my faith and confession; and all that I am and can do outwardly and inwardly—the end of my life, the day and hour of my death, my dying and my rising again.2 O Lord God, deal with me as you will and as you know is best for your honor and for my salvation.
Petition for Grace and Guidance
A prayer for continued fear of God, mercy in times of frailty, and a life lived according to His word rather than the counsel of the wicked.
Keep me in your fear and in true knowledge. Guard me from the works of unrighteousness, and if I should happen to sin against you out of frailty, I ask you not to take your mercy from me, not to turn your grace away from me, and not to withdraw your help from me; for otherwise there is no other God or helper—none was made before you, and none will be after you. You, you are the First and the Last, and apart from you there is no God! Therefore I call to you alone: let your goodness rule over me; let me hear your grace early in the morning, for I hope in you. Guide my feet on the right path, that I may not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor step onto the way of sinners, nor sit where the scoffers sit; but that I may have all my heart's delight and love for your word and commandments, and practice them day and night.

Gebenedeit sei Gott, mein Schöpfer, gebenedeit sei Gott, mein Heiland, gebenedeit sei Gott, mein höchster Trost, der mir gibt Gesundheit, Leben und Segen, der mein Schutz und Hilfe ist und mich an Leib und Seele nach seiner großen und hochberühmten Barmherzigkeit in dieser vergangenen Nacht vor mancherlei Beschädigung des Satans behütet und gesund an diesen Tag hat kommen lassen. Ich bitte dich, himmlischer Vater, durch den blutigen Schweiß Jesu Christi, deines lieben Sohnes, du wollest mich heute diesen Tag auch in deinen göttlichen Schutz nehmen, mich beschirmen und handhaben innerlich und äußerlich, dass mir kein Arges widerfahre. Leite meinen Fuß auf rechter Straße, dass ich nicht wandle im Rat der Gottlosen, noch trete auf den Weg der Sünder, noch sitze, da die Spötter sitzen; sondern dass ich all meines Herzens Lust und Liebe habe zu deinem Wort und Geboten und in denselben mich übe Tag und Nacht.
