Gebet, wenn man zur Kirche gehen will

A Prayer for Entering the Sanctuary

The petitioner seeks God's guidance and grace while expressing a deep longing to join the assembly of the saints in worship.

Almighty God, heavenly Father, trusting in your great goodness, I will enter your house and worship toward your holy temple in the fear of you. Lord, lead me in your righteousness; make your way straight before me. Lead me on the path of your commandments, for you are my God and the Lord of my salvation.1 I delight in your dwelling place and am glad to be among the assembly of the saints who praise and confess you.2 How lovely are your dwelling places, Lord of hosts! My soul longs and yearns for your courts. Come, let us worship, kneel, and fall down before the Lord who made us; for he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his flock. Exalt the Lord our God; worship at his footstool, for he is holy. I pray to you at a favorable time, O God; in your great goodness, answer me with your faithful help.3

The Seal of Prayer

The prayer concludes with the traditional affirmation of faith.

Amen.

Read the original Latin

Allmächtiger Gott, himmlischer Vater, auf deine große Güte will ich in dein Haus gehen und anbeten gegen deinen heiligen Tempel in deiner Furcht. Herr, leite mich in deiner Gerechtigkeit, richte deinen Weg vor mir her.

Amen.
