The Light of Divine Protection
The petitioner seeks divine illumination and deliverance from trials through the intercession of Christ and the holy guardian angel.
Grant me a bright robe, You who are clothed with light as with a garment, most merciful Christ our God. Free me from every kind of trial, and save me from sorrows, I pray you, holy Angel, given to me by God, my good guardian. Enlighten my mind, O blessed one, and give me light, I pray you, holy Angel, and always guide me to think of what is good for me.
Stillness and the Heavenly Ladder
A doxological transition leads to a prayer for inner stillness and a reflection on the Theotokos as the ladder to the divine.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Settle my heart from this present turmoil, and strengthen me to keep watch in what is good, my guardian; and lead me wondrously into the stillness of life.1 Now and always, and forever and ever. Amen. The Word of God made His home in you, O Mother of God, and revealed you to humanity as a heavenly ladder; for through you the Most High has come down to us.2

Ри́зу ми́ пода́ждь све́тлу, одея́йся све́том я́ко ри́зою, многоми́лостиве Христе́ Бо́же на́ш.
Вся́ких мя́ напа́стей свободи́, и от печа́лей спаси́, молю́ся ти́, святы́й А́нгеле, да́нный ми́ от Бо́га, храни́телю мо́й до́брый.
Освети́ у́м мо́й, бла́же, и просвети́ мя́, молю́ся ти́, святы́й А́нгеле, и мы́слити ми́ поле́зная всегда́ наста́ви мя́.
Сла́ва Отцу, и Сы́ну, и Свято́му Ду́ху. Уста́ви се́рдце мое́ от настоя́щаго мяте́жа, и бде́ти укрепи́ мя́ во благи́х, храни́телю мо́й, и наста́ви мя́ чу́дно к тишине́ живо́тней.
