Notes
- 1 ↩concordansa: rendered as "harmony"; Llull's technical sense of concordance/agreement between powers is also possible.
- 2 ↩In Llull's allegory, amor is personified and referred to with the feminine pronoun ela; rendered here as "her" to preserve that personification.
- 3 ↩Reading "deia" as d'eia ("of her"), so "en lo mig loc d'eia" = "in her middle place," with Love as feminine personification; if another segmentation is intended, revise.
- 4 ↩Catalan «él» most naturally anaphorizes masculine «menor amar» (lesser loving); a less likely reading takes «él» as the Friend, yielding “for she could not remain with him without toil, fear, and pain.”
