The Creed Professed

A concise, rhythmic confession of the articles of the Christian faith.

I believe, Lord, that you are the one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Because of your great goodness and power, you created the heavens and the earth. Because of your immense love, you have gathered all things together in Christ. Who was made flesh and conceived. Born. Died. He rose again. He will return. He suffered. He was buried. He ascended. He will judge. Crucified. Descended. Sat down. Through the power and work of the Holy Spirit, God has called the entire Church to holiness. In it, we attain participation in good things and the forgiveness of sins. In this, we wait for the resurrection of the body and eternal life.

The Mystery of Faith

A reflective expansion on the meaning and necessity of the articles of faith.

I believe, Lord; help the weakness of my faith! The loving affection of the Father. The power of the Almighty brings salvation. The providence of the Creator is in the care, governance, and completion of the world. I believe in the great mystery of devotion: that for us humans, for our salvation, God was revealed in the flesh—the Son of the Father, anointed by the Spirit, our Lord Jesus. It is necessary for Him to be conceived and born to cleanse the impurity of our conception and birth. It was necessary for us to suffer what is inexplicable, so that we wouldn't have to endure it ourselves. He was crucified, died, and was buried, so we wouldn't have to fear facing judgment for our sins. He descended; for us it was necessary, and so we should not be lost. He has risen, ascended, and taken His seat; where there is nothing for us, and so that we may also be with Him. The Judge of the world is coming to take us with Him.

The Titles of the Redeemer

A series of devotional titles attributed to Christ based on his saving actions.

I believe in Him. In the conception and generation, the purifier of nature. In the Passion of the Cross, the Death of the Burial, the Redeemer of Humanity. In his descent, the Conqueror of Hell and Death. In the Resurrection, the first fruits of those who have died. In the Ascension, the Forerunner. In the session, the Advocate or Comforter. In the second coming and judgment, the perfecter of faith. So, in place of Abaddon. Satan. The Devil. The Accuser. The Captor. The Sting. I behold Jesus. The Mediator. Comforter. Intercessor. Redeemer. Christ.

The Spirit and the Church

A meditation on the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church and the believer.

I believe in the Spirit, who gives life and sanctifies. Invisible, outside, effective, like the wind. In reprimand, compunction, teaching, common action, advocacy, consolation, testimony, the spreading of love, and the illumination of knowledge. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the mystical Body of Christ, which calls together people from all over the world, to the faith of truth and the holiness of life. The mutual participation of the members in the Body of Christ. Furthermore, in the present moment, there is the forgiveness of sins, the hope of resurrection, and the promise of eternal life.

Living the Creed

A prayerful application of the Creed, seeking to conform one's life to the image of Christ.

Lord, grant me faith; not a faith that would nullify the law. But faith works through love. Works are effective. Winning the world. Finally, may I love you as a Father and revere you as the Almighty. I entrust my soul to my faithful Creator, confident in His goodness. May Christ be formed in me; I, in turn, will be conformed to His image. I give thanks for what He suffered for me; I want to share in His suffering: I will endure whatever He wishes. So that I may take vengeance for His Cross, Death, and Burial, I will crucify, slay, and bury whatever sin caused this. I will often meditate on His descent into hell while I am still alive. So that I may conform to His Resurrection, rising to a new life. On the Ascension, think about what is above, and seek it. So that I may remember the assembly whenever I lack some heavenly comfort; and whenever I grow cold in prayer. I will never forget the Advent and the Judgment. I will always hear the sound of the resonant trumpet, and I will always pray until I am established at His right hand. Amen.
